No parlay

GPS won't take my parlay because it involved a pro-Michigan. Hey, when the line moves and you see an opportunity, you have to bet with your head, not your heart.

Watch Party

The Big Game means Michael Corleone's. And congrats to Michael and Kay Adams - Michael popped the question.

So most of the crew is here. We got squares, pizza logs, rigatoni, and beer, beer, beer!

Cornhole at the half.

Go Bucks!

Game Day

Well today is the day of The Big Game, the greatest rivalry in Div 1 (is it still called D1?) College Football; the annual clash between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the University of Michigan Wolverines.

Much has been written recently on the topic of 'Is this game still a rivalry?' To which I respond, 'HELL YES!' Sure Tressel has dominated the team up north during his tenure, but it wasn't that way a few short years ago when Cooper was getting his ass kicked year after year.

I can remember heading into those games (in a figurative sense) that (over used term alert) records didn't matter, but it was true, and its still true today. Each and every contest was like a championship unto itself. And it preserved Carr for many years, and was the demise of Cooper and then later Carr.

This reminds me of the current rivalry/non-rivalry between the Browns and the Steelers. The Browns haven't beat the Steelers since, well I don't know when, and since I'm typing this on my blackberry from the comfortable confines of a 5 star hotel bed, I'm not about to start my pc to look it up. Now where was I... Oh yeah, browns/steelers... Mrs Brunson recently attended the B/S game is Pittsburgh. While we didn't win, she detected a change in the attitude of Pittsburgh fans during the tenuous moments of that game. It was almost like that fans realized, 'Oh $hit, by some fluke, the Browns might win. We better start insulting their fans and throwing beer, food, my mom/sister's teeth, etc. at them.

All I'm saying is that the rivalry remains, and you will see it today as the Bucks travel to Ann Arbor (she's a whore, you know...) and Tressel rolls out his conservative playbook and his handcuffed QB. If that game is close you'll know its a rivalry for sure.

Speaking of which, GPS, you're in Sin City, what's the spread and over/under. I'm thinkin' of a parlay....

Go Bucks!

Not just a childish joke

I saw this on the way back to the office and couldn't help but laugh. Well, apparently the Johnson Erection Company isn't just a childish joke. Its a real business in Kirtland, OH.

Cribbs down on last play

So I'm in the car driving to 1600 Pennsylvania and listening to the end of the game. Then they announce that Cribbs goes down on the last play of the game. At that point I loojked down at my odometer to see this...

Just like that... 14-0

Wow! A whole half of football wasted in less than 3mins.

Now we are forced to watch 30yrs of Browns' Monday Night highlights. I guess the team is trying to remind us of when we were good.

Its safe to say, it will be a long time before the NFL schedules the Browns on Monday night.

Where's Doyle?

Can you find Doyle and Mrs. B in this pic?

Dog Pound Mike

Showed up after kickoff and greated with chant of 'ass hole, ass hole!'

Seen in the crowd, 'duck fawg pound mike!'

Are you ready for some football?

Monday Night Football with Left. Former Browns QB Paul McDonald to our left. 6mins to kickoff and the stadium is mostly full. Looks like the kickoff boycott is a bust, kinda like this season.

Go Browns! (Hope springs eternal...)

Top Ten Reasons Why US Airline Sux

I know the “Top Ten List” was popularized by Mr. Hostile Work Environment, but as I’m trekking back to Cleveland and couldn’t help but pen this list:

10. Flying US Airlines, operated by Mesa Airlines, on a still branded America West jet? Who’s flying this plane?

9. Window seat with no window.

8. Broken front toilet. (Its fixed, but they didn’t put water in the tank. WTF!?!)

7. $25 first bag fee because my frequent flier number didn’t transfer over.

6. Who the F manufactures the CJR900 anyway?

5. Rude flight attendants.

4. 2.5 hour delay for my connecting flight.

3. Flight crew barking orders to be seated because the flight’s behind schedule. Like we caused it?

2. $4.50 for a domestic draft beer in the in the club lounge!?! What’s the point of being a member?

And the number one reason US Airlines sux...

1. They’re not Continental Airlines.

Cleveland Medical Mart

With these recent revelations:
- MMPI can’t afford the rehab of Public Auditorium;
-its plan to invade the Daniel Burnham’s 1903 designed ‘grand outdoor civic space’ (known as Malls A, B, and C) – which City Council opposes;
-the botched negotiations on the 113 St. Clair building; and
-the passage of casino gaming in Ohio and specifically in Cleveland on property located at and/or including the Cleveland Tower City Center.

I’m putting my money on a move of the Medical Mart to the Tower City Complex.

I’m further surmising that the casino will also build the convention center, which will do two things - leave Cleveland holding the bag that is the existing convention center (head’s up Greater Cleveland Film Commission!); and make the casino/convention center/medical mart pretty much a self contained entity, something that was talked down by the casino promoters during the campaign. Not that they would go against their word, after all, Lyle Berman wasn’t a part of the casino plan either…until the last minute anyway….

Chocolate cake. And that's only 1/4 touched.

W.R.'s Chicago Cut

Oh yeah!

Return to the Scene of the Crime

Back in the Windy City for the trip that spawned SteakMatters.com two years ago.

We're at Gibson's for dinner. Decisions, decisions, decisions - W.R.'S Chicago Cut, Bone-in Sirloin, or the NY Sirloin....

More to come....

Let's Shuffle Up and Deal

Its about to be called. Issue 3 passes big.

Post Election...

And Barberton Chicken. Michael Symon's 'Bar Symon' at The Q rocks.

Election Day 2009

We used to be able to say 'Vote early, vote often.' Apparently ACORN took that long time phrase seriously and ruined the joke.

So get to the polls early and encourage your friends to do the same.

And if your still undecided, check out the issue endorsements on the right of the page and a deeper discussion in the blog post titled 'Election 2009'.
