About 7 years ago my Doc told me I needed to loose some weight - high cholesterol, high sugar, etc. He said, "You're addicted to process foods and carbohydrates." I thought he wanted me to got on to Atkins Diet, which was all the rage back then. He said, "No, think of it as the Caveman Diet. If a caveman could eat it, you can eat. So vegetables are ok, but in moderation." And due to my high sugar, no grapes, but red wine was ok.... 6months and 25lbs later, I was in great shape and feeling good. Unfortunately, for a myriad of reasons and excuses I became less disciplined and, ta da, I'm back where I was.
Anyhow, I read with enjoyment this article, that was reprinted in today's PD about a 'subculture' [Sidebar: Only in NY and in a NY paper can someone's eating choices be defined as a subculture. End sidebar] of people '...whose members seek good health through a selective return to the habits of their Paleolithic ancestors.'
Its worth read, but hey NYT, the CLE and SteakMatters is way ahead of you...now if I could just get past the homefries at The Palm.
